Library of Things is a collection of items that can be borrowed by Hunterdon County Library cardholders, such as tools, games, musical instruments, kitchen items, and more. The Library of Things is an extension of traditional library materials and is intended to provide items that will save residents’ resources for items that they might only need to use on occasion or in specific, limited circumstances. The Library of Things can also help residents try new things before committing to an individual purchase. 

Online reservations must be placed on Library of Things items by the public or library staff. Most Library of Things items may be borrowed for 14 days without any renewals allowed. Overdue fines are $1.00 per day up to a maximum of $5.00. Only four Library of Things items may be checked out by the same person at one time. Items must be returned in-person at the same location from where they were borrowed. Items returned in an outdoor book drop will incur a $5.00 fine per item.

Returned items will be immediately checked in; however, the library reserves the right to follow up within five business days should there be any missing or damaged parts. Borrowers will be charged the full cost of lost, damaged, or otherwise unusable items. Borrowers will not be responsible for damage based on normal wear and tear. The library cannot accept a replacement in lieu of payment. Replacement costs will be listed on each item in the collection.

This is a lending program only. Library staff are not available for instruction in the use of Library of Things materials. Instructions are provided with each item. The library is not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage that may occur from use of any item.
