Museum Pass Program Policy
Program Scope
The Museum Pass Program connects Hunterdon County Library System cardholders with free admission to a wide variety of regional museums and cultural institutions. Patrons must possess a valid library card in good standing (current address check, no fines over $10). Patrons must present the library card used to reserve the museum pass when picking it up. There is no charge for borrowing a museum pass.
Reservations
Passes are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Passes must be reserved online through the museum pass software on the library website (hclibrary.us/services/museum). Passes can be reserved day of use, but may not be reserved more than 10 weeks in advance. Patrons are limited to one reservation per institution per month, and may not place more than a total of 5 reservations per month. The number of people admitted to a museum varies by institution. Passes must be picked up and returned to the North County Branch Library Adult Services Desk (upstairs).
Timed Entry
Many institutions are now requiring timed entry tickets, in addition to the museum pass. Once you reserve your pass on the library’s website, see the instructions in the museum details to reserve your timed entry ticket. If you have a museum pass but have not reserved a timed ticket, you may not be granted access to the institution. If you have a museum pass and were unable to reserve a timed entry ticket for the same day, cancel your museum pass reservation and try a different day.
Digital/Printable Passes
Most institutions use physical passes that must be picked up from and returned to the North County Branch Library. Some institutions offer digital or printable tickets. Admissions information will be conveyed via email.
Checking Out & Returning Passes
Day of use is the day the patron plans on visiting the museum. Passes may be picked up after 2pm the day prior to the day of use and must be returned by 11am the 2nd day after the day of use. Please return your pass on time so that the next reservation can be honored. Passes returned via book drop must be in the hard media case provided at pickup. Passes returned late will result in a fine of $10 per day, to be applied to the library card used to place the reservation.
Penalties & Cancellation
Passes can be cancelled up to two days before the day of use. Patrons can cancel online or by calling North County Branch (908-730-6135). Failure to pick up the reserved pass is considered a “no show”. Two “no shows” in an 8-week period results in an 8-week block on museum pass reservations. Any pass which is lost or damaged will be charged a replacement fee of $25.
