There are three pickup settings — cardioid (picks up sound from the front, ideal for recording single-direction audio like solo instruments and podcasts), omni (360-degree audio, ideal for a group of acoustic instruments), and cardioid with -10dB pad (reduces mic sensitivity so even the loudest instruments or vocalists come in crystal clear and distortion free) — to accommodate any recording situation.
