Hunterdon County Headquarters Library is gaining major upgrades with the help of a nearly $1 Million State Grant!
This project will include several major improvements, under a $980,837 state library construction grant accepted by the County’s Board of Commissioners, at the December 7, 2021 Board meeting.
Upgrades planned for the Headquarters Library, at the County’s Route 12 Complex in Raritan Township:
The upgrade plan was created based on feedback from county residents through a county-wide survey and a number of focus groups with community members. In full, this nearly $2 Million project is matched in joint funding from county capital funding and library funding from the Anneliese Stefani Bequest Fund. The County Engineering Department and Library Administration are working with architecture firm, FVHD.
Headquarters Library will remain OPEN during construction!
The Library Bond Act was approved by voters in 2017. On November 20, 2020, Governor Phil Murphy signed A4942, which authorized nearly $87.5 million to be distributed to proposed projects for the first round of funding from the Library Construction Bond Act. This funding will provide crucial improvements to New Jersey public libraries, including ADA compliance upgrades for disabled residents and projects to improve public access to information and modernize community space, including procuring new technology.
Hunterdon County Library, among the first round of recipients, was awarded $980,837 for upgrades to the Headquarters Library.
