About Us
The Flemington Library Company was listed as one of the first "library companies" in 1799. About 1834, the Flemington Library Company was dissolved, and for the next 64 years, books were circulated through private libraries and Sunday School libraries. In March 1911, the Flemington Free Public Library building was dedicated, the building having been donated by Hiram E. Deats and funded by a bequest from Dr. William H. Bartles. In 1938, a wing was added expanding the library and in 1968 another wing was added, given by Mrs. Sutphin in memory of her husband, Nedwell Sutphin.
