Caldecott Medal Winners

The Caldecott Medal is named in honor of Randolph Caldecott, a prominent English illustrator of children's books during the nineteenth century. The award is presented each year to "the illustrator of the most distinguished American picture book for children." To be eligible for the award, the illustrator must be an American citizen or permanent resident of the United States. The selection of the winner is made by a committee of the Children's Services Division of the American Library Association.
