  • Black River & Western Railroad: Flemington, NJ
    Historic steam engines run between Ringoes and Flemington on Saturdays and Sundays, April through December. In July and August, trains also run on Thursdays and Fridays. Trains between Ringoes and Lambertville run on Sundays from May through October.

    Features the world's largest model railroad as part of an exciting miniature world. Over 20 years of work has gone into creating 25 and 30 foot mountains, bridges that span 38 feet, thousnads of buildings, and millions of trees. Also featured are The Grand Dollhouse, a doll exhibit, an art gallery, and a 500 person theater (complete with pipe organ).

Hunterdon County Historical Sites

  • Califon Train Station: Railroad Ave. & Academy St., Califon, NJ
    The Train Station was built in 1875 out of hand-cut locally quarried stone by town volunteers. It is headquarters and museum of the Califon Historical society, and contains artifacts, memorabilia, and revolving exhibits.
  • Doric House: Flemington, NJ
    Greek-revival house built in 1846, headquarters of the Hunterdon County Historical Society
  • Fleming Castle: Flemington, NJ
    The town of Flemington grew up around - and took its name - from this building, then know as "Fleming's Tavern". It was built in 1756, and is Flemington's oldest remaining house.
  • Green Sergeant's Bridge: Sergeantsville, NJ
    Last covered bridge left in New Jersey, built in 1872.
  • Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead: Lambertville, NJ
    Believed to be the oldest stone house (circa 1711) in Hunterdon . Museum-barn displays early farming and homemeking devices, and a 1910 doctor's office.
  • Hunterdon Art Center: Clinton, NJ
    The Hunterdon Art Center is housed in a barrier-free, restored 18th cnetury stone grist mill (1837) and was established in 1952 as a cultural art center for the visual and performing arts.
  • Hunterdon County Courthouse: Flemington, NJ
    This Greed Revival structure, made famous during the Lindbergh/ Hauptmann trial, was built in 1828. It is included in the Historic American Buildings Survey.
  • Hunterdon Historic Museum - Red Mill: Clinton, NJ
    Showplace for 150 years of Hunterdon County history as well as special concerts and festivals.
  • Lambertville Self-guided Walking Tour: Lambertville, NJ
    Encompasses structures listed as outstanding by state and national Registers of Historic Places with styles including Romanesque, Victorian Gothic and Classic Federal.
  • Lebanon Township Museum: New Hampton, NJ
    Constructed as a one-room schoolhouse in 1823; a second story and extension were added in the 1870's.
  • Locktown Stone Church - Locktown Baptist Church: Locktown Village, NJ
    Original church was a log structure built in 1745 by Baptists, and was known as the "Swamp Church Meeting House."
  • Marshall House Museum: Lambertville, NJ
    Built in 1816, this was the boyhood home of James Marshall, discoverer of gold at Sutter's Mill, California. Serves as headquarters of the Lambertville Historical Society.
  • Mt. Salem Church Hall: Alexandria Township, NJ
    Built in 1864 as a Methodist Church; maintained by the Alexandria Township Historical Society

  • Amwell Lake Management Area: East Amwell Township, NJ
    26 Acre wildlife manamement area. Lake stocked with fish, lake and shore fishing.
  • Bull's Island State Park: Delaware Township, NJ
    83 acres. Overnight camping April - October. Multu-use trail open year-round. Boat launch ramp.
  • Capoolong Creek Management Area: Franklin Township, NJ
    An undeveloped park.
